Erap won’t do ice bucket challenge

At his age, maybe he just doesn’t like cold water poured all over him.

“Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada shot down Ilocos Sur governor Chavit Singson’s ice bucket challenge, saying he does not want the publicity when he gives to charities,” reports Pia Gutierrez on ABS-CBNnews.com.

The report noted: “Singson has done the popular ice bucket challenge and so he dared the former president to do the same as part of the viral effort to raise funds for the study of Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.”

As part of the challenge, Estrada should donate to the ALS Foundation or pour cold water with ice on himself, or both. A lot of celebrities and even government officials have opted to do both.

Estrada, however, “dismissed the ice bucket challenge, saying that charitable works should not be turned into a spectacle.”

Estrada was quoted as saying, “Kung tutulong ako, ‘di ko na kailangan sabihin. Di pakitang tao (If I help, I don’t have to tell people about it. I don’t want to show off). I have done it silently.”
