In politics, they say, there are no permanent enemies or permanent friends.
“On Sunday, Dec 22, Manila Mayor Erap Estrada returned to the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) — this time not as an embattled former president — but rather to visit his successor, former President and current Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo,” reports Patricia Denis Chiu on GMA News Online.
The report pointed out that “Estrada’s visit marked the first time the former president returned to VMMC, where he spent two years in detention.” These days, Arroyo, who had pardoned Estrada, is under “hospital arrest” for a plunder case involving the alleged misuse of PHP366 million Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) intelligence funds during her administration.
The two controversial former presidents reportedly ate merienda together.
