Wait, we thought he was going to retire? He’s turning 78 this year, after all.

Perhaps overjoyed by the dismissal of the disqualification case against him, Manila Mayor and former President Joseph “Erap” Estrada is said to be open to the possibility of running for office again in 2016.

“Estrada held a press briefing Wednesday afternoon immediately after the Supreme Court (SC) announced the dismissal of the disqualification case filed against him by lawyer Alicia Risos-Vidal,” reports Kathlyn dela Cruz on ABS-CBNnews.com.

The report noted: “Vidal had questioned Estrada’s eligibility because of the former president’s conviction for plunder back in 2007. But Estrada has maintained that the pardon he received from then President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo fully restored his civil and political rights.”

With his followers around him, Estrada said, “I thank the people of Manila who gave their trust and confidence in me, and at the same time I would like to thank the justices of the Supreme Court for giving us a victory.”

Estrada late added in Filipino, “For now I have no plans to run for higher office. But that’s for now.”

See, it’s cryptic asides like that which drive people nuts.
