Erap to review building permits of informal settlers on Manila City jail land

Incoming Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada has promised to address the problem of informal settlers occupying land that belongs to the Manila City Jail.

An ABS CBN News report said he will be reviewing the building permits of these stuctures once he assumes office on June 30th. Estrada earlier met with the newly appointed jail warden Supt. Noel Montalvo. The Manila City Jail is only occupying 3.6 hectares of what was originally13 hectares of land. The rest is overrun by informal settlers. The warden said they add to the problem of illegal contraband in the jail facility.
