Manila Mayor and former President Joseph “Erap” Estrada is not discounting the possibility of supporting the candidacy of Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas for the 2016 presidential elections.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Estrada wished Roxas all the best.
Roxas was anointed by President Benigno Aquino III as his preferred successor for 2016, saying the interior secretary can surely continue the reforms his administration has started.
According to Estrada, Roxas is a competent and intelligent person.
While he has yet to decide who between Vice President Jejomar Binay and Senator Grace Poe he will support in next year’s polls, Estrada said he is also open to the possibility of supporting the presidential bid of Roxas.
The former president said his relationship with Roxas when he was his trade and industry secretary is something he will also consider.
Estrada, however, said the opposition should not be threatened by the gathering of Liberal Party (LP) members, allies and supporters in Club Filipino this morning.
