Erap leaves for HK to formally apologize for bus hostage tragedy

Let’s hope Hong Kong is in the mood to forgive.

“Former President and current Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada left the country on Tuesday, April 22, to formally apologize for the deaths of the eight Hong Kong tourists during the 2010 Manila bus hostage crisis,” reports Nestor Corrales on Inquirer.net.

Estrada was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Jose Rene Almendras and Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Alan Purisima.

Estrada was also reportedly bringing a check for the surviving victims and the families of those killed during the hostage crisis.
