And a former action hero saved the day…so to speak.
“Unseated Laguna governor ER Ejercito left the provincial capitol on Friday morning, May 30, after his uncle, former president and now Manila Mayor Joseph ‘Erap’ Estrada convinced him to step down,” reports Dharel Placido on ABS-CBNnews.com.
Ejercito had “set up camp” in his office at the capitol since Tuesday, May 27, after the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) unseated him for alleged overspending. Naturally, he opposed the decision.
According to the report, Estrada said he had to convince his nephew to leave the capitol with him today in order to prevent violence from erupting.
“Alang-alang sa katahimikan, pansamantalang kinausap ko si ER na sumama na sa akin sa pag-uwi at antayin ang desisyon ng Korte Suprema (For the sake of peace, I asked ER to come home with me and just wait for the decision of the Supreme Court),” Estrada said.
