He can run, he can hide but he can’t escape their love, not on Valentine’s day.
Kindergarten students from Tacloban City sent Valentine’s day cards to singer Enrique Iglesias to thank him for his efforts in helping kids in calamity-stricken areas through his #Hearts4Kids partnership with Save the Children.
The 40-year-old Iglesias, whose mother is from the Philippines, received the cards on Friday Feb 12, while on tour.
The international sensation was one of the first celebrities to send his support when Typhoon Yolanda struck Tacloban in 2013.
#Hearts4Kids sells shirts, the proceeds of which are going to the international non-profit organization’s Children’s Emergency Fund.
The Children’s Emergency Fund allows the organization “to pre-position lifesaving supplies before an emergency hits, respond immediately to a crisis, and do whatever it takes to protect the lives of children.”
According to the website, a shirt costs USD 27.50
“My fans have embraced this project in more ways than I could have imagined, and their generosity is going to make a big difference for kids in crises,” Iglesias told ABS-CBN.
To date, Iglesias and Save the Children have raised roughly USD 25,000 or PHP 1.1 million.
