Enrile remains unfazed by jail

He’s 90 years old and he’s been at this game for so long.

“Citing several instances when he was charged and detained, Senate Minority Leader Juan Ponce Enrile said he believes he would be freed again even if he gets arrested by authorities any time soon,” reports Hannah Torregoza in Manila Bulletin.

The report noted that “Enrile is facing plunder and graft charges before the Sandiganbayan Third Division due to his alleged involvement in the PHP10-billion pork barrel fund scam.”

(Each decade since I entered politics after the first EDSA Revolution, I’m being jailed. I was behind bars during the time of then President Cory Aquino when I was charged with rebellion complex with murder. I was detained for 10 days in Camp Karingal).”

Enrile pointed out that “in all the cases he faced, he went to the Supreme Court for legal intervention”…and he succeeded.

Now, that’s something worth thinking about.
