Let’s face it, he’s been around this long because he knows how to play the political chess game.
“Former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile on Friday filed an omnibus motion for bail from his plunder and graft raps in connection to his involvement in the pork barrel scam,” reports Marc Jayson Cayabyab on Inquirer.net.
In his 51-page motion filed before the Sandiganbayan, Enrile pointed out that the pieces of evidence against him have no “probative value.” (Whatever that means.)
Enrile’s camp claimed that the pieces of evidence were forged and fabricated by the employees of Janet Lim Napoles, the alleged mastermind in the scam.”
Enrile likewise pointed out that “there is no evidence to show that he directly participated in the alleged scam, especially as the whistleblowers themselves said they had not transacted directly with Enrile.”
Enrile, along with and Senators Ramon Revilla Jr. and Jinggoy Estrada, were charged with plunder and graft in connection with the alleged misuse of the Priority Development Assistance Funds (PDAF).
