Senator Juan Ponce Enrile arrived early at the Sandiganbayan 3rd Division on Fri, Sep 11, for the pre-trial of his plunder case in connection with the pork barrel scam. However, the pre-trial was cancelled after the anti-graft court granted Enrile’s motion to reset the hearing.

“The cancellation was made since the Supreme Court (SC) has yet to decide on the motion for reconsideration filed by the Office of the Ombudsman on the high court’s decision granting the senator’s plea for a Bill of Particulars,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

Reporters, of course, asked Enrile about how he saw his current situation. He said that he and his lawyers are prepared for the plunder and graft cases filed against him.

Enrile stated: “It’s like throwing fish in the sea. If you’re a fish, you can swim in the oceans.”

To further drive home his point, Enrile added, “I’ve been trained as a lawyer, a trial lawyer, an all around lawyer. I’m not a half-baked lawyer.”

The report noted: “Enrile gained temporary liberty last month after posting a PHP1.45 million bail — PHP1 million for plunder and PHP450,000 for the 15 counts of graft filed against him.”
