He’s one tough old man.
“Senator Juan Ponce Enrile is set to be brought back to the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital on Thursday, March 19, after being confined at the Makati Medical Center for pneumonia,” reports Julliane Love De Jesus on Inquirer.net.
According to Chief Inspector Raymond Santos, the PNP medical spokesperson, said “the 91-year-old senator’s condition has improved since his confinement at the Makati hospital last February 26.”
The report recalled: “Enrile was rushed to Makati Medical Center due to pneumonia weeks after he celebrated his birthday on February 14. Santos earlier said Enrile was coughing up blood and was suffering from a 39-degree fever.”
Santos said they’re just waiting for Sandiganbayan’s go-signal so they can finalize Enrile’s return to the PNP General Hospital. “We cannot move without the court order,” he said.
The report pointed out that “Enrile has been under hospital arrest due to his advanced age since July 2014 on plunder charges in connection with the PHP10-billion pork barrel scam.”
