ENHYPEN and K-Pop fans slammed staff of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) after a TikTok video surfaced on Monday showing alleged unprofessional behavior from airport personnel during a security check.

ENHYPEN was in Manila for a three-day concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The hashtag #MIAADoBetter, referring to the Manila International Airport Authority, trended on Twitter as a TikTok video of an airport employee supposedly giggling while frisking the group members made the rounds.

Fans were outraged at the employee’s facial expressions as she performed the security check on the artists, which many found inappropriate.

“As a fanbase, we saw our fandom do everything to make the boys feel comfortable here yet the [staff] at the airport that the boys [have] to see the moment they come and go in the Philippines repeatedly disappoint and show unprofessional behavior,” ENHYPEN Asia wrote on Twitter.

Another fan pointed out that the employee’s behavior proved that the Manila airport deserved the title of being the worst in the world. Last May, NAIA was named as the worst business class airport in a study by luggage storage app Bounce, while the airport was named as the third most stressful in the world by a travel website in December.

“This really shows why NAIA is labeled as the worst airport in the world. They are just too low. From being unprofessional to harassing someone.”

Meanwhile, another pointed out that one of the group members being frisked was underage.

“I want you to know that this girl right here is making this face while touching a minor. Get them fired!”

Addressing the social media storm, the Office of Transportation Security (OTS) released a statement, saying that it was looking into the matter of unauthorized filming.

Yet many fans were dissatisfied with the OTS’ statement, saying that they did not address fans’ concerns about violating the members’ privacy as they were frisked down without special equipment while personal information such as their QR codes was secretly recorded.
