UP employee’s death goes unnoticed

Other boarders dismissed the foul smell in the area as rotting garbage, but it turned out that Josefina Sebastian, 53, had been dead inside her room inside the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman campus, Quezon City for days.

Sebastian’s decomposing body was found in her room at the university residence hall on Hardin ng Rosas, Purok Aguinaldo, days after she failed to show up at work. Her elder brother Mateo Sebastian of the UP Institute of Chemistry, sought the help of the UP Diliman Police (UPDP). Josefina, who worked as a records officer of the UP College of Social Science and Philosophy (CSSP), has been absent from work since May 30. She also failed to return the phone calls and text messages of her brother.

Residents were shocked when police broke open Sebastian’s room and found that she had been dead for several days, Inquirer News reported.
