Students bid adieu their classmates and teachers in ankle-deep waters as their school’s multipurpose hall was submerged in floodwaters during their graduation on Wednesday, April 5.
About fifty graduating boys and girls of Balas Elementary School in Lamitan City, Basilan had to take their shoes and socks off to attend the swamped ceremony.

According to school officials, they had no time to look for another venue.
“Some parents expressed dismay at the situation, saying their kids were forced to take part in the ceremonies when the school could have come up with a solution,” ABS-CBN News reports.

Another parent said that the school should’ve looked for another venue since it has been raining in Lamitan since last week. The multi-purpose hall is located in a flood prone area.
Still, congratulations on your graduation!
