Calling all oenophiles, tipplers, and souses: You have until Wednesday to stock up on your poison of choice before a five-day liquor ban takes effect.
The liquor ban, which will be enforced from May 9 to 13, is in preparation for the elections.
It won’t be a total liquor ban, though. According to the Official Gazette, liquor will be allowed in hotels and other places tourist-oriented places that are certified by the Tourism department and given an exemption by the Commission on Elections. Foreign tourists are allowed to drink at bars and lounges exempted from the ban.
You can also drink within private property because this is still a free country. You won’t be allowed to buy or consume alcohol during the ban, though, so it’s time for a shopping spree to fuel those weekend drinking sprees.
Or, you know, don’t drink at all and use the time to think about who among the candidates deserves your vote.
