An elderly landlord was arrested by Sampaloc, Manila police yesterday after it was discovered that he recorded naked videos of his tenants while they were in the shower.
The alleged Peeping Tom has been identified as Noe Nodalo, 69, a resident of Manuel dela Fuente St. in Sampaloc. One of his tenants alleged that on Sunday, she discovered that there was a hidden camera installed inside the shower in the dorm which Nodalo owns, reported Philippine Star Pang Masa.
She discovered it after Nodalo castigated her for letting a male friend use the toilet, which made her suspicious because her landlord was not around when her friend entered the room, reported TV Patrol. After snooping around, the tenant discovered a camera hidden behind a wall clock inside the shower, which she then reported to the police.
The cops then discovered VHS tapes containing videos of the dorms’ female tenants in various states of undress, reported Abante Tonite. Some of the women were also recorded on video while taking a shower.
Nodalo admitted to the police that he owned the tapes and the camera, but tried to downplay what he did by saying that recording videos of his tenants was just a hobby. He also said he needed to watch the videos so he could sleep.
“Those [tapes] are my collection. I admit, [I’m recording them] because I haven’t been married for 10 years. I watch them so I could fall asleep,” he told TV Patrol.
He said he only started recording his tenants in June, but the police are skeptical because he uses VHS tapes to record the women.
Nodalo will be charged with Republic Act No. 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009. Meanwhile, the tenant who discovered the alleged voyeur’s hidden camera has gone home to the province where she is currently undergoing counseling from the Department of Social Work and Development.
