EDSA-Shaw no longer pickpockets’ paradise, claim police

It’s one thing to make a claim, it’s another thing to prove it.

“Chief Superintendent Miguel Laurel, director of the Eastern Police District (EPD), said they recorded at least 33 cases involving pickpockets at the intersection of EDSA and Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong City from October to December last year, prompting them to declare it as a ‘focus area,'” reports Non Alquitran in The Philippine Star.

Laurel added that he deployed at least 35 police officers on motorcycles to arrest pickpockets. They’ve arrested a total of eight suspected pickpockets in area since Jan 1. This is what prompted EPD officials to say that the place is “no longer a haven for pickpockets.”

Er, isn’t it too soon to rejoice?
