Is there anything that’s not toxic left?
“The panic alarm was sounded anew by environmental group EcoWaste Coalition after they discovered the unrestricted sale of brass or chrome-plated water faucets with high lead content,” reports Chito A. Chavez in Manila Bulletin.
The report noted: “Using an x-ray fluorescence (XRF) device, the group bought five brass water faucets from plumbing stores in Sta. Cruz, Manila for PHP120 to PHP300 each and found that each had lead content ranging from 1.45% to 8.47%.”
You see, as the group pointed out, the maximum amount of lead should just be “at 0.25% weighted average in wet surfaces of water pipes, fittings, and fixtures including faucets.”
