Duterte warns EDSA speed limit violators: ‘I will strip you naked and call the media’

We’re all for creative ways to teach law breakers a lesson — but we’re not too sure about forced nudity.

In a press briefing in Davao City on Mon, May 16, incoming President Rodrigo Duterte stated that he plans to impose a 60 kilometer per hour (kph) speed limit on vehicles going through EDSA.

“The same speed limit is implemented in Davao City, where Duterte has served as mayor for two decades,” noted Alexis Romero on Philstar.com.

“Kapag sa EDSA, pag nalasing, harurot ang mga sasakyan (Along EDSA, if people are drunk, they accelerate their vehicles),” he said.

Then, when asked what would be done to the violators, Duterte replied, “I will strip you naked and call the media. If you want to file charges against me, fine.”

Duterte went on to remind motorists not to drink to avoid accidents. He said: “Do not drink and drive. Once you do that, you’ll know that you might kill a person.”
