Duterte wants DFA to be faster at processing passports

The processing of passports needs to speed up.

During the flag-raising ceremony at Davao City Hall on Mon, Jun 27, President-elect Rodrigo Duterte said he has ordered incoming Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Perfecto Yasay Jr. to address the long queues of people applying for passports.

“Duterte explained that he pitied people who end up sleeping on the pavement while waiting for their passports,” reports ABS-CBN News.

“He also had this to say to DFA officials issuing passports: ‘Once [the documentary requirements are] complied with, do not ask for more or less…You go to the computer and you make a projection.'”

To be fair, though, the DFA has an online appointment system at www.passport.gov.ph, where users can fill up the application form and set a date and time for their submission of passport applications and other pertinent documents.
