Around 20 supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte assembled outside the Office of the Vice President in New Manila, Quezon City Sat (Mar 18) morning to call for the impeachment of VP Leni Robredo or for her to voluntarily step down from her post.
In unison, protesters chanted, “Leni, Leni umalis ka na!” (Leni, Leni, leave now)
On Fri night, House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez said he is studying the possibility of filing an impeachment complaint against RObredo for alleged “betrayal of public trust”. Alvarez pertained to the video message Robredo sent to the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs where she spoke against Duterte’s controversial drug war.
On Mar 16, an opposition lawmaker, Gary Alejano, filed an impeachment complaint against Duterte. Robredo has denied involvement in the motion to impeach the tough-talking president.
