Sinister forces out to play con games should be careful in choosing their targets.
Peter Laviña, spokesperson for incoming President Rodrigo Duterte, said he has received word that individuals using his name “were going the rounds of oil companies soliciting funds for the incoming administration.”
He claimed that he was a victim of identity theft and denied sending such emissaries.
On a Facebook post, he said that an unidentified ex-policeman was also using his name to solicit money in Maguindanao. The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation is also being solicited, according to an ABS-CBN report.
“Please disregard any so-called requests coming from Peter Laviña. That is not me and that is not my style,” he said.
He thanked alert citizens who reported the incident to the police. “The con-game is all over the country, a well-organized smear job only those who are afraid of real change can mount,” he warned.
