President Rodrigo Duterte has more than 99 problems, and sleeping in a huge house by himself is included in his list.
The most powerful man in the land reportedly felt “lonely” on his first night at his new place, the Bahay Pangarap, located within Malacañang Park.
“Sabi nga niya, malungkot daw doon dahil malaki ‘yung bahay, aalog-alog, siya lang daw mag-isa. Wala daw siyang kasama,” Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said in a report by GMA News.
(“He said it was lonely there because the house is huge and he was alone. There was no one with him.”)
Duterte arrived from Davao City on Monday, Jul 11.
His family is based in his hometown and he flies to their modest two-stroy home every week. When he needs to govern the country from Manila, he stays at Bahay Pangarap.
It’s easy to see why President Duterte feels uncomfortable in the grandeur of his new residence. Known for his simple lifestyle, Digong used to sleep in a comfortable bed with a mosquito net prior to becoming the country’s leader.
Former President Benigno Aquino III used the same bungalow as his official residence during his six-year term.
Duterte has earlier complained that the Malacanang palace has ghosts and that it has too many doors.
Well, spending a lonely night alone is much better than spending a night with ghosts, right?
