Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte always makes headlines for the things he says and his speech last night at a former government official’s birthday party was no exception.

It was at the Tagaytay birthday bash of former presidential adviser Francis Tolentino that Duterte uttered some violent remarks.

According to The Philippine Daily Inquirer, it was there that Duterte said he had something “evil” in mind for his enemies.

He was quoted speaking in a mix of English and Filipino: “That is really the fault of all bad people, that they think that they [could] monopolize evil in this country. So may I just (sic) would like also to share with you that there are many of us [evil persons]. I also have an evil plan for my enemies. But because of my values and religion….”

But what does the president have up his sleeve?

In true Duterte fashion, he didn’t elaborate and instead changed the topic. He talked about ISIS terrorists who go about “decapitating soldiers” and children, as shown in a clip obtained from Radio TV Malacañang by the Manila Bulletin.

CNN Philippines also reported that he also mentioned the Abu Sayyaf Group who do not have “any tinge of redemption.”

But that wasn’t the only violent thing the president said last night. He also said that he wanted to “slit” the throats of big-time drug lords.

Rappler quoted him saying: “I’m just warning big fishes that for the remaining three years, they will be caught.”

He added: “And if you ask me, will they be killed? They will die. I’ve already told them not to do it (crime). Don’t do it now. If you’re a big-time [drug lord], I will not forgive you.”

Next comes the most vomit-inducing part — the kind of thing only a movie villain would utter.

“I will slit your throat in front of human rights [activists]. I don’t care. I’m telling you, don’t do that in my country. I will really kill you,” he said.

The tough guy talk may sound impressive to his supporters but many others aren’t impressed. Although Duterte’s drug war has caused thousands of deaths, big-time drug lords still run free. One example is suspected drug lord Peter Lim who remains at large five months after a Makati court ordered him arrested.

The president also admitted last night that catching drug lords wasn’t as easy as he thought it would be.

CNN Philippines quoted him saying: “I was wrong because I thought that I could fix it (the Philippines’ drug problem) just like Davao. Of course some of them, I really killed them. There’s nothing that I could do, they fought back.”

Uhuh, whatever you say, Mr. President.
