Another one of our dear president’s jokes?

President Rodrigo Duterte said in a speech in Malacañang yesterday that Catholic bishops who criticize his administration “serve no purpose” and should be killed.

“Your bishops, kill them. These b******s serve no purpose. All they do is criticize,” Duterte was quoted saying by The Philippine Daily Inquirer.

He made the remark yesterday during an awarding ceremony for the 2017 Presidential Award for Child-Friendly Municipalities and Cities (PACFMC) in Malacañang.

Not so child-friendly with that speech.

In another event yesterday, Duterte said that majority of priests are gay, CNN Philippines reported.

“Most of the priests there are homosexuals. Almost 90 percent of you. So, do not postulate on my morality,” Duterte said during the awarding of the country’s top overseas Filipino workers (OFW).

So is there something wrong with being gay, Mr. President?

Last week, he accused Bishop Pablo Virgilio David of Caloocan of being a drug addict. The bishop is a staunch critic of the Duterte administration. He is also known for criticizing the Philippine National Police (PNP) for their inability to stop vigilante groups from killing residents of Caloocan, reported Rappler.

David rejected the president’s claim in a Facebook post and said he was only addicted to fruit shakes blended with moringa (malunggay), a horseradish-like plant.

Duterte has recently been ranting about members of the Catholic Church, many of whom are openly opposed to his policies and his deadly drug war which has claimed the lives of over 12,000 Filipinos, according to the Human Rights Watch. Recently, he accused priests of having wives and children.

Duterte also said that Filipinos should just build their own chapels at home — as if everyone could afford to do so — and skip going to church and “pay for idiots (priests).” Earlier this year, he caused a ruckus when he called God “stupid.”

Duterte also defended his habit of making outrageous statements yesterday, ABS-CBN News reported. “If it is too ridiculous, it must be a joke,” he said, referring to his Monday statement where he said he uses marijuana to stay awake.

He was complaining about the schedule of the 33rd ASEAN Summit in Singapore last month, which is why he “joked” that he takes weed to keep awake for the meetings.

“It’s (ASEAN Summit) a killing activity and I think the — my age, me not so much because I take marijuana to stay awake, for others, they can’t take it,” the 73-year-old said, according to Rappler.

He was quick to take back the statement and said that he has no plans of changing his habit of making outrageous remarks.

He said: “It’s too late to change. If I want to joke, I will joke. If you believe me, you’re morons.”

So, this whole killing Catholic priests thing, this must be another funny joke then?
