On Sat, Sep 26, the supporters of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte held a gathering in the hope of convincing him to run for President in 2016.

In response to the clamor, Duterte issued a statement saying, “Sa lahat sa kababayan natin, humihingi ako ng konting panahon, so I can do some final soul-searching with myself and my family (To all my countrymen, I ask for a little more time so I can so some final soul-searching with myself and my family).”

Everyone assumed the “soul-searching” Duterte was referring to would be about his potential presidential run.

On Mon, Sep 28, Duterte said that his “soul-searching” statement, which was read during gathering of his supporters in Manila, “was taken out of context.”

“My statement was taken out of context,” he claimed in an ABS-CBNnews.com report. He added: “I was referring to federalism vis-a-vis with the Moro,” Duterte explained.
