The National People’s Army (NPA) snubbed President Rodrigo Duterte’s ultimatum and now the Commander-in-chief is really pissed.
At around 7:40 p.m. — nearly three hours after the ultimatum has lapsed — Duterte lifted the ceasefire he announced on his very first State of the Nation Address (SONA).
In an official statement, Duterte said, “Let me now announce that i am hereby ordering for the immediate lifting of the unilateral ceasefire that I ordered last July 25 against the communist rebels.”
He also instructed government forces to enforce the law to maintain peace.
“I am ordering all security forces to be on high alert and continue to discharge their normal functions and mandate to neutralize all threats to national security, protect the citizenry, enforce the laws and maintain peace in the land,” said the tough-talking president.
