Duterte fires off ‘bleep words’ against the US for the nth time

Well, he’s not the first person to curse at the US and he’s not the first person to break a promise to God.

President Rodrigo Duterte cursed at the United States on Wed, Nov 2, breaking a one-week old promise to God, as he criticized the US anew.

It may be recalled that Duterte had said he heard a voice — presumably, that of God — while on a plane from Tokyo to Davao City last week. The voice had allegedly made a threat to bring down the plane if Duterte didn’t stop swearing or using epithets.

Duterte had related: “I was looking at the skies while I was coming over here and I just — everybody was asleep, snoring — but a voice said that, ‘You know, if you don’t stop epithets, I will bring this plane down now.'”

Fast forward to one week later and the effect of the so-called divine voice has already worn off.

“It happened while Duterte was speaking in the coastal town of Sual, Pangasinan, before the release of Vietnamese fishermen, who were accused of poaching in Philippine waters, but were later cleared by Philippine prosecutors,” reports ABS-CBN News.

Duterte once again fired off cuss words when he referred to the US State Department’s decision to stop the sale of 26,000 assault rifles to the Philippine National Police. He also accused the US of taking the “fat of the land” during its decades-long occupation of the Philippines (48 years), including vast gold reserves.

Duterte said, “Sabi nila, na you should be thankful na bigyan ng armas. ‘T*ng*n*. Fifty years, kayo ang nakinabang sa aking bayan. Lahat ng mina hanggang ngayon, inyo. Lahat ng mga pineapple plantations sa Mindanao, inyo. Tapos maingay pa kayo. P*t*ng*n* ninyo. Leche. Eh, galit ako eh,” he said.

(“They said we should be thankful we are being given weapons. Son of a bitch. You took advantage of our country for 50 years. All the mines are yours until now. All the pineapple plantations in Mindanao are yours. Then you’re still raising a fuss. You’re all sons of bitches. Damn. I am angry.”)

What we learned from this: Maybe the divine voice only has power when Duterte is on a plane.
