Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has denied that he will be Senator Bongbong Marcos’s running mate for the 2016 elections.
Reports have been surfacing that Duterte has been tabbed as Marcos’ vice president for the upcoming national elections, but the Davao City mayor stressed that he has no intentions of running for vice president or president.
“It’s no longer my time,” Duterte said. “Tapos na ako. Twenty-two years as mayor, 23 kung matapos ko next year, okay na ako.”
Duterte also withdrew his previous statement wherein he said he will run if he surpasses Vice-President Jejomar Binay’s ratings.
Duterte’s ratings are expected to spike after his recent national TV exposure, including a guest appearance on “Gandang Gabi Vice.”
Duterte now said he will only run if he reaches a 91% approval rate.
“Tumaas na standards ko,” he said. “Dapat 91%. Pero if hindi, nada, wala.” —from a report by Danjo Revilla, ABS-CBN News
