Duterte on De Lima: ‘She was not only screwing her driver, she was screwing the nation’

On Thu, Sep 22, President Rodrigo Duterte continued to fire off verbal shots against Sen. Leila de Lima.

Duterte’s latest tirade against De Lima became part of his speech at an inauguration of a power plant in Misamis Oriental.

The Duterte-De Lima tiff started even before he was elected President. When De Lima was chair of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), she already called for a probe on the alleged human rights violations in Davao City, where Duterte had served as mayor for two decades.

Philippine Daily Inquirer quoted Duterte as saying (starts after the 27:31 mark in the video), “De Lima, she was seven years chairman of the human rights. Binibira niya ako. Hindi naman nag-fi-file ng kaso. When she was secretary of Justice, she was building a name at my [expense] para ma-popular. So what now? She was not only screwing her driver, she was screwing the nation. O, ngayon, saan na ang human rights?”

(“De Lima, she was seven years chairman of the human rights. She kept slamming me. However, she wasn’t filing any cases. When she was secretary of justice, she was building a name at my [expense] so she would be popular. So what now? She was not only screwing her driver, she was screwing the nation. So, now where’s the human rights?”)

He added, “So, all the while [she was doing things] because of her propensity for sex. Ngayon lang ako nakakita ng babaeng lumabas sa social media, nakangiti pa ang buang parang walang [nangyari]. Putang ina, kung nanay ko iyon, barilin ko.”

(“So, all the while [she was doing things] because of her propensity for sex. It’s only now that I’ve seen a woman who is all over social media, smiling like crazy, like nothing happened. Whore-mother, if she were my mother, I’d shoot her.”)

Duterte and his allies earlier said De Lima had an affair with her former driver Ronnie Dayan, whom they said also served as her alleged link to the illegal drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison. De Lima has denied the allegations.
