Duterte appoints Teddy Boy Locsin as new ambassador to the United Nations

Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar has confirmed the appointment of broadcaster and former congressman Teodoro (Teddy Boy) Locsin Jr. as the new Philippine ambassador to the United Nations (UN).

After Locsin’s meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte at the presidential residence Bahay Pangarap in Malacañang, Andanar confirmed Locsin’s acceptance of the post.

“Cong. Locsin said he accepted the position as UN Ambassador,” Andanar said in a Philippine Daily Inquirer report. “Cong. Locsin told me he would release a statement once he returned from an overseas trip next Tuesday.”

A lawyer and seasoned journalist, Locsin served as a representative of the 1st District of Makati City from 2001 to 2010. He is currently the host of #NoFilter and his segment TEDitorial on ABS-CBN News Channel’s (ANC) news program The World Tonight.
