A Philippine Airlines (PAL) aircraft’s tire burst after landing at the tarmac of the Dumaguete Airport earlier today, causing the temporary closure of the runway.

In a statement released today by the country’s flag carrier, the 156-seater Airbus A320 reportedly experienced tire issues shortly after landing at the Dumaguete Airport’s runway this morning.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said in a statement that the plane with flight number PR 2541 had “damaged the left main gear of its rubber tires” at 6:31am.

PAL noted, however, that the passengers — all 113 adults, 2 infants, and 6 flight crew aboard — disembarked the aircraft safely.

The CAAP has also declared a runway closure in the meantime to tow the aircraft away from the runway.

The Philippine Daily Inquirer reported that the CAAP’s spokesperson Eric Apolonio said that a portion of the Dumaguete Airport has been closed for safety reasons.

Some flights heading to Dumaguete from Manila and vice versa have also been canceled.
