The notorious Dugo-Dugo Gang carted off P15 million to P20 million in cash and valuables after conning a house helper who worked for a wealthy family in Wack-Wack Village, Madaluyong City.
The suspect was said to have called the house and pretended to be the maid’s employer. The caller allegedly asked the maid to crack open a safe with a crowbar and take out the money and jewelry inside.
The maid was then instructed to go to a meeting place in Caloocan City to hand over the items, ABS CBN News reported.
The Dugo-Dugo Gang’s usual scam is to call up a victim’s house pretending to be cops, nurses, or doctors. They then tell the victim that someone who lives in the house is either at the hospital or in jail and needs money. The caller then dupes the victim into handing over cash and valuables.
Here’s a video that the Philippine National Police made to warn people about the Dugo-Dugo Gang.
