It was a tragic day for a policeman whose four-year-old son was stabbed to death by a drunk balot vendor in Barangay Duljo Fatima, Cebu City a little past noon Thursday.
PO1 Emmanuel Martinez Sr was getting ready for work when he heard that his son was stabbed in the back by Danilo Remulta who was under the influence of liquor.
The knife used by the suspect pierced through the heart of Emmanuel Tek-eng Martinez Jr. The young victim died at the ER of Miller hospital.
According to a report by the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Emmanuel Sr rushed out of the house as soon as he heard that his son was stabbed. Without realizing that his son was critically wounded, he focused on persuading the suspect to surrender.
Remulta was eventually arrested.
Emmanuel Sr. was described as “inconsolable.”
“He was sobbing here in the police station because he did not expect that it would happen just infront of their home. The boy was his eldest son,” said Senior Police Officer 1 (SPO1) Roel Del Socorro in a report by the Sun Star.
