“Police in Buluan, Maguindanao confirm that an emotionally distraught and intoxicated 21-year-old man cut off his penis with a sharp machete in the early hours of Monday,” reports John Unson on Philstar.com.
According to Inspector Alonto Arobinto, chief of the Buluan municipal police, said the man had startled his relatives when he arrived at their house drunk.
According to the relatives, they saw the man writhing in pain sometime later. They rushed him to the hospital when they noticed his groin bleeding.
The man is now undergoing treatment at the South Cotabato Provincial Hospital in Koronadal City.
The attending physician, Dr. Nelson Joel Decolongon, told reporters that “they do not have the capability to reconnect the man’s severed sex organ.”
Meanwhile, Arobinto said, “We still do not know if he was under the influence of drugs when he did it.”
