Drunk man attempts to crash through ‘Obama checkpoint’

It helps to read the news. It also helps not to drink and drive.

“Chinese businessman Don Lunsheng, whose Filipino name is Arvy Li, was arrested at around 1:45am on Tuesday, April 29, for avoiding a police checkpoint near the hotel where US President Barack Obama reportedly stayed for his two-day state visit in the Philippines,” reports ABS-CBN News correspondent Francis Faulve on ABS-CBNnews.com.

Lunsheng, 29, was arrested after he refused to stop at the police checkpoint in Vicente Sotto corner Dela Rama Streets across the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), near the Sofitel Hotel, where Obama reportedly stayed overnight. Lunsheng was with a woman named “Sheena” and he appeared to be drunk.

Lunsheng went as far as to drive his car into the barricade set up by the police. His vehicle, with license plate number XLW 587, was slightly damaged in the incident.

Lunsheng later explained that he had been baffled by the checkpoint because he didn’t know it had been set up due to Obama’s state visit.

Lunsheng has been charged with disobedience to authority and resisting arrest.
