Surely not in the running for father of the year is this dad from Binmaley, Pangasinan who threw his crying 3-year-old child into a fish pond.
The father, identified as Darmo Tarectecan, has been arrested after his wife Helen complained about him to the police, GMA News’ Balita Pilipinas reported yesterday.
Helen said the fish pond was calf-deep — not much to an adult, but traumatic for a toddler — and that their child was in the water for 3 minutes. She said her husband was “really drunk” at the time.
While at the police station, Tarectecan was also caught with two sachets of suspected shabu (meth).
He had no problem admitting that he, indeed, tossed his child into the water while drunk but did not own up to the drugs allegedly recovered from him. He claimed that the police set him up.
“When I got here … four police and two civilians surrounded me … they had me hold that white thing that’s like the one used in cigarettes that’s stainless (silver color),” Tarectecan said in Filipino, referring to the foil used by meth users.
Binmaley Police Deputy Chief Police Senior Inspector Cesario Fernandez denied this and said that it is common for drug suspects to deny ownership when caught with drug paraphernalia.
Police are now preparing charges against Tarectecan.
Thankfully, his child is now in good condition.
