Drunk cop dies after ramming motorcycle into patrol car

There are so many levels of wrong in this story.

“Police Officer 1 Israel Ugalde, 31, was killed after he accidentally rammed his motorcycle into the patrol car of his colleagues who came to pacify him after he caused a disturbance in his Quezon City neighborhood on Good Friday, April 18,” reports Jeannette I. Andrade in the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Ugalde reported to the Quezon City Police District’s Batasan Hills station. In fact, station commander Supt. Eleazar Matta, had sent his men to Area 5, Luzon Avenue, in Barangay Old Balara, Quezon City after Ugalde’s neighbor Elvie Hillado sought police protection against a drunk Ugalde.

When his colleagues arrived on the scene, they tried to pacify Ugalde, but he ignored them and just got on his motorcycle and drove back and forth along Luzon Avenue.

As he was driving towards Hillado’s house again, Ugalde lost control of his motorcycle and hit his colleagues’ parked patrol car. The impact threw him off his bike. Ugalde was rushed to the Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center. The next day, he died due to massive head injuries.
