Just like in Manny Pacquiao’s other matches, many drivers of public utility vehicles (PUVs) and vendors in Metro Manila — perhaps, all over the country — are taking a break from their daily grind to watch the Filipino boxing champ fight Floyd Mayweather Jr..

A TV Patrol report noted that most of these die-hard Pacquiao fans are off to catch the public viewings offered in their respective barangays. Some have made special arrangements for the said viewing in their homes, sports bars, or even hotels.

Jeepney driver Daniel Villegas told TV Patrol in Filipino, “In the morning, there may still be a lot of jeepneys going around, but that will change sometime after 10am.”

Taxi driver Diosdado Domingo also said, “It will be like a ghost town in Metro Manila.”

Jenel Madorabe, who mans a stall at a public market, said he will be closing the shop on Sun, May 3. “I’ll be watching the fight at my boss’ house,” he said. He added that there were other vendors who will just open their stalls half-day such as shoe repairman Benny Villar.

Villar is looking forward to the fight, predicting that Pacman will knock down Mayweather on the 7th round.
