A van driver is now injured after his vehicle’s brakes suddenly stopped working while he was driving down Mount Pulag in Benguet province yesterday afternoon. But thanks to his good judgment, none of his passengers were hurt.
FO2 Jason Banda-ay of the Bokod Bureau of Fire Protection said that the van was carrying Filipino tourists when they were on the way down from the popular mountain’s Ranger Station and traveling the Bokod-Kabayan Road, ABS-CN News reported.
Mount Pulag is popular among climbers for its challenging hike and view of a sea of clouds.
Radyo Inquirer reported that the driver made his passengers get out of the Hi-Ace 2006 Toyoto Van when he noticed that the brakes weren’t working properly. The van then continued to fall to the side of the mountain and into a forested area, ABS-CBN News added.
The driver sustained a head injury and is currently getting treatment at the Baguio General Hospital, the report added.
The passengers were all safe.
