Driver of the bus in Tanay crash apologized for broken brakes before ramming into a tree

Moments before the tragic Tanay bus accident took place, 37-year-old driver Julian Lacorda Jr., apologized to the passsengers after realizing that the brakes of the vehicle were not working.

One of the survivors Joever Sumugat recalled how Lacorda said “Sorry, nawalan ng preno (Sorry, there are no brakes)” before the accident transpired. Sumugat also narrated how the students started panicking and praying when they realized what was happening.

The tourist bus carrying about 58 passengers from BestLink College in Novaliches rammed into a roadside tree causing the death of 15 people, including the driver.

Another male survivor recalled how the students smelled burning rubber prior to the accident. He added that the students felt the surface of the vehicle’s floor heating up.

18 victims remain admitted at the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center, reports GMA News.

Bestlink College of the Philippines promised to extend financial assistance to the families of the victims.
