DPWH sets aside PHP8 billion for Metro Manila flood control projects

“Of the nearly P46 billion the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has set aside this year for its flood control program nationwide, over PHP8.48 billion will go to 360 projects in flood-prone areas in the National Capital Region,” reports Jerry E. Esplanada in Philippine Daily Inquirer.
 
The department’s budget report, a copy of which was given to Inquirer, reveals that in Metro Manila, “Quezon City will get the biggest funding of about PHP1.47 billion.”

Here is the breakdown of the budget for the flood control projects in Metro Manila:

1. Quezon City — PHP1.47 billion (96 projects)

2. Manila City — PHP1.21 billion (62 projects)

3. Marikina City — PHP696.2 million (21 projects)

4. Muntinlupa City — PHP499.95 million (34 projects)

5. Makati City — PHP480 million (14 projects)

6. Caloocan City — PHP471.24 million (15 projects)

7. San Juan City — PHP427.25 million (24 projects)

8. Pasay City — PHP401.36 million (11 projects)

9. Valenzuela City — PHP363.86 million  (11 projects)

10. Pasig City — PHP340.74 million (19 projects)

11. Las Piñas City — PHP318.05 million (6 projects)

12. Taguig City — PHP289.88 million (7 projects)

13. Malabon City — PHP246.66 million (9 projects)

14. Navotas City — PHP213.18 million (10 projects)

15. Parañaque City — PHP74.75 million (3 projects)

16. Mandaluyong City — PHP5.5 million (1 project)
