DPWH halts road works for school opening

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)  has announced a suspension of road work and other repair activities in what it considers are “critical areas” in the metropolis. The suspension will be enforced for at least the next two weeks to give way to the influx of commuters and vehicles in line with the opening of the new school year.

DPWH-National Capital Region director  Reynaldo Tagudando said the move stemmed from a request penned by Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) . The agency is concerned about easing traffic  starting  on Monday, June 3.

The identified critical areas are: Edsa; San Marcelino Street, Vito Cruz and Rizal Avenue Extension in Manila; and Sucat in Parañaque, Inquirer News reported.
