Three inmates in Batangas who apparently wanted to get lit on New Year’s Day have been charged for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act once again after they were caught by personnel.

According to ABS-CBN, jail personnel conducted a search after someone tattled about a pot session that was allegedly happening in the Lipa City Jail’s male dormitory in Barangay (Village) Uno at around 5pm.

A report from the Batangas Police Provincial Office shows that the three inmates were identified as Warren Joseph Marasigan, 43 years old, Leo Dizon, 33 years old, and Eger Payonga, 32 years old, an article by the Manila Bulletin states.

All three men were in jail also because of drug-related charges, Radyo Inquirer reported.

Old habits die hard?

Authorities from the Lipa City Jail’s Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) allegedly caught the three with drug paraphernalia including one used strip aluminum foil, one improvised burner, a lighter, an improvised cutter, and a small brown envelope with an aluminum foil strip, the Manila Bulletin reported.

They have been turned over to the Lipa City Police and are facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

The BJMP will investigate how the drugs were slipped inside the jail in the first place, ABS-CBN News reported.
