Expect more and more people to go there.

“The Department of Tourism (DOT) said that due to improved communication and transportation in and to the province, the number of tourists who traveled to Batanes tripled in 2014 to 15,800 from an estimated 5,000 in 2013,” reports GMA News Online.

DOT Asec. Art Boncato said in Filipino, “There are already airlines that fly the Batanes-Manila route daily. [Of course,] Batanes is so unique. One, it is at the tip of the Philippines. Its topography is quite unique compared to the other destinations. The views are just fantastic.”

The report also pointed out that visitors may have also found the trip to Batanes more affordable, as a one-way ticket to Batanes that once cost as high as PHP20,000 now has promo or sale counterparts that are as low as PHP2,000.
