Every year on Jan 9th, thousands — if not millions — of devotees join the Traslacion (transfer) of the Black Nazarene from Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo, Manila and through the streets of Quiapo. It could take more than 12 hours to complete the route.
Faithfuls believe in the miraculous powers of the Black Nazarene, from healing diseases to granting wishes.
Despite being a deeply religious event rooted on Catholic beliefs, the Traslacion is also notorious for opportunistic crimes, injuries and even deaths of devotees who participated in the procession.
Here are some reminders to stay safe during tomorrow’s Traslacion:

– Wear comfortable and light clothing to avoid heat stress.
