Let’s face it, many of us need this reminder.
“The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has advised consumers not to buy medicines being sold on the internet as it is risky,” reports Jonathan M. Hicap in the Manila Bulletin.
In an advisory, the FDA explained, “Buying prescription (Rx) and over-the-counter (OTC) drugs from the buy and sell website like Sulit.com.ph is risky. The advertisers may be bogus.”
The report revealed that in November 2013, Sulit.com.ph took down ads for at least 166 medicines, mostly prescription vaccines and other biological products for human and pet animals.
The FDA emphasized that online advertisements that offer the sale of medicine “could actually be an illegal operation or a scam.” *But, of course, many people still fall for scams.
