Don’t be too quick to dismiss Mocha Uson, defenders say

Please, give the woman a break!

Those who think that sexy dancer Mocha Uson isn’t qualified to become a social media consultant for a government agency just because she is part of a dance group are being unfair not just to her but also to themselves.

What she does for a living should not stop her from sharing her opinions.

“How high and mighty of us to think that our judgement is better than hers because she gyrates, goes naked and makes bastos remarks on social media. Does that really her political views any less valid,” said journalist Rainne Lorenzo on Facebook.

“It’s bad to bash Mocha in the same way she bashes others. In the same way, don’t kill people if you don’t want to be killed yourself,” wrote Tony La Viña, former dean of the Ateneo School Government, has also defended Uson.

:

Ina Silverio, writer at alternative publication Bulatlat, warned Uson’s critics, “Disagree with her politics, but don’t attack her for having an opinion, for using her right to speak her mind, for taking on the duty to serve and help worthy causes like exposing corruption, pushing for good governance, and demanding better services for the poor.”
