Don Mariano Transit bus franchises revoked by LTFRB

It’s only fitting.

“On Tuesday, Jan 14, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) ordered the revocation of the franchises of Don Mariano Transit, whose bus was involved in the fatal road accident in December in Parañaque City, killing 21 people and hurting scores of others,” reports Dennis Carcamo on Philstar.com. Don Mariano’s fleet consists of 78 buses.

According to LTFRB chairman Winston Ginez, the bus which plunged from the Skyway last Dec 16 was found “not road-worthy” by the agency’s inspectors. He also added that “the bus firm did not comply with the terms and conditions of its franchise.”

Don Mariano could appeal the decision by filing a motion for reconsideration. If the LTFRB turns down the motion, Don Mariano elevate its case to the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC).
